Christmas and the New Year are just around the corner, the fourth Advent candle is burning. Due to some  changes at work in the last few months, I was unable to finish the third and final volume of the trilogy in time for Christmas. Some new ideas arose while writing, too. That will hopefully make the book - and thus the entire story - even better. In this respect, it will still be a while before the story comes to an end.

Speaking of "a while": it's hard to believe - between Christmas and New Year 2018, I visited Huis Doorn for the first time and started drafting the story about Holm, Salome and the child. That's six years full of stories and history, interesting and inspiring encounters, readings, museum visits and much more.

I wish everyone out there a blessed, wonderful Christmas and a good start to the new year 2025!

Under the menu item "Music" there is a little insight into a side project: the creation of pieces of music with the help of AI - in this case the homepage suno.com. For me, it's not about creating radio-ready songs to "sell", but about the experience of working with this tool. Many of you know that I have been actively making music myself for many years and have also written some songs together with other colleagues. In the past, the problem was often the texts, especially in English. The melody and accompanying music went with us and always worked quite well for us. With the examples on the page it's completely different: the text was finished, the AI does the rest. Take a listen - thematically, in the broadest sense, it's always about being a (hobby) author, but also about the "writing guild" per se.

Most of us are now back to normal, August is already well advanced and the days are noticeably shorter. It's actually a nice time: pleasantly warm during the day and cooling down quite a bit at night.

In the last few days I've been working a lot on Volume 3, but also dealing with the general conditions for publication. The prices for printing and distribution are quite remarkable.  There's not much you can do as a selfpublisher, especially with very extensive works. Then the only option is often Amazon - and therefore no possibility of supplying bookstores across the land. Nevertheless, it should be possible again to get the new book at least from KliBo in Weener. I'm in good spirits.

Currently there are also contacts for readings in autumn, winter and next spring. Anyone who is interested in a reading, also in a private setting, should not take too much time when it comes to a specific desired date. Because of a career change, the time slots this “season” will be a little rarer.

Start of the holidays, holiday time! I wish all students a nice holiday and everyone a relaxing summertime! I wish all travellers a safe journey on hopefully traffic-free routes!

If you still need reading material, I recommend the novels as an eBook from Amazon or a print version from Klinkenborg in Weener (or from Amazon). And another little, not so secret tip if you like novels/crime novels from the German-Dutch border region: take a look at the new books by Mathijs Deen about the German-Dutch investigator Liewe Cupido - it's worth it.

Now I wish you all the best -

We'll hear/see/read each other again at the latest after the holidays!

Summer is approaching, June has arrived. I can look back on a very nice and fulfilling "reading season" and was very pleased with the enthusiastic response and the interesting encounters and conversations! In March I was able to visit the women's group of the Wymeer parish and in May I presented my novels in Wilm's book barn for the benefit of the Stray Cats Rheiderland e.V. You can find snapshots and articles about the past readings here.

I am currently working on the third and final volume of the series. It will be called "Herr/Mr. Murbi in Doorn" and will look back at the circumstances surrounding Annegret's/Salome's child. I am currently at around 200 pages - so it looks like there will be plenty of reading material for the winter again...

Holiday time=reading time!

Until April 1st, “Kratteweis in Doorn” is available as an eBook for €0.99!!! If you haven't read the book yet, you can buy it now as a bargain on Amazon. Have a good time while reading!

11.03.2024

We have two very exciting, intensive readings behind us - once in Ostrhauderfehn, once in Wymeer. I would like to thank the very interested, active audience for the numerous questions and contributions!

03.03.2024

Due to some work on the homepage, undesirable side effects such as shifts in the layout may occur. I sincerely apologize and will complete the work as quickly as possible.

18.02.2024

Gradually, the individual pages of the homepage will also be available in English. Why? I think that some articles on the site may be of interest. Of course it's a lot of work, but it really trains the already somewhat rusty school English :-)

13.02.2024

An advance notice of the reading in March has appeared on the homepage of the Ostrhauderfehn parish. You can find the article hier.

12.02.2024

The first reading of the year is done - it was a great, intensive evening at Hafen55 in Weener with in-depth conversations about the Kamp Westerbork and the transports that led through the Rheiderland. Many thanks again to Hilmar Bockhacker and his team as well as Lars Klinkenborg from the KliBo bookstore. And of course to all the guests who made this evening a very special event!

In the meantime, there is a new date: On May 4th, 2024 at 4 p.m. I will hold a benefit reading for the Streunerkatzen Rheiderland e.V. association in the Wilms bookbarn in Tichelwarf. I am very happy to be able to support both the association and the bookbarn (open every first Saturday of the month) with my visit! More information will follow shortly.

28.01.2024

It's almost time: The second reading of "Kratteweis in Doorn" is coming up! I'm really looking forward to the event at "Hafen55" in Weener - because last year the evening was something really special, both in terms of the encounters and the atmosphere.

The event is accompanied by a book table from the KliBo bookstore in Weener. It is therefore possible to purchase books and have them signed. Free entry!

!!! NEW: LIVING ROOM READINGS!!!

I used the Christmas season to prepare a new project. Do you know people who like to read, learn about the background of stories and/or are interested in history? Would you like to offer your guests an unique, special evening and are you looking for a suitable “event”? Then perhaps a reading of one of my books with a discussion about the background would be a good opportunity! All you need is a little space and a television or monitor with an HDMI input (for pictures and videos of the locations and people). Feel free to click on “Feedback” and select the “Request” section - I’m looking forward to it!

06.01.2024

Best wishes for the new year, dear people out there! I'm currently looking out the window at the fields behind our house; everything is white and the snowflakes continue to fall from the sky.

I hope you all had a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Unfortunately, times are currently turbulent: floods, wars, protests... I wish to everyone affected by the flood that no one is personally harmed and that any property damage is as minimal as possible. I have the utmost respect for all the volunteers and professional helpers who secure the dikes and do everything else to ensure that the situation does not get worse.

Otherwise, I'm of course keeping all my fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate and the rain and snow will stop.

Compared to such incidents, the work on the third volume is extremely minor, but is progressing well.
